Okay, so I’ve always been super into fashion, not just wearing it, but like, experiencing it, you know? So I decided to make it a mission to hit up some of the best global fashion events and festivals. Here’s how it went down.

First, the Research

I started by, duh, Googling. Lots of “best fashion weeks” and “cool fashion festivals” searches. I made a huge list, scribbled down dates, locations, everything. I also checked out some fashion blogs and Instagram accounts to see what events people were actually buzzing about, not just what some official website said was cool.

Making a Plan (and a Budget!)

Next, I had to be realistic. I couldn’t just jet off to every single event. I picked a few that seemed doable, considering my budget and time off from work. I made a spreadsheet (nerd alert!) with all the costs: flights, hotels, tickets, even food. I also looked for any deals or discounts I could find.

Booking Everything

This part was a bit stressful, ngl. Booking flights and hotels early was key to getting decent prices. For some events, I had to buy tickets way in advance, like months! For others, it was more chill, and I could get them closer to the date. I learned that it really depends on the event’s popularity.

Packing the Essentials

  • Comfy shoes: Seriously, you’re gonna be on your feet a lot, walking around, standing in lines, etc.
  • Portable charger: For all those Insta stories, obviously!
  • A notebook and pen: To jot down names of designers, boutiques, or just random inspiration.
  • A basic, versatile outfit: Something I could dress up or down, depending on the event.
  • A statement piece: Just one fun, eye-catching item to add some flair.

The Actual Events!

I went to a mix of big and small events. The major fashion weeks were intense – so many people, so much energy! It was amazing to see the runway shows and get a glimpse of the upcoming trends. The smaller festivals were more intimate, with a focus on independent designers and sustainable fashion. It was great to actually chat with the creators and learn about their work.

What I Learned & My Tips

My biggest takeaway? Do your research! Find your fashion intersts, and plan it! There’s so much out there beyond the big-name events.

Don’t be afraid to talk to people. I met some really cool designers, stylists, and fellow fashion lovers just by striking up conversations.

Be open to new experiences. Some of the best moments were things I hadn’t even planned.

Honestly, it was such a blast. I saw some incredible fashion, met some amazing people, and got tons of inspiration. It was definitely worth the planning and the expense. Now, time to start planning my next fashion adventure…
