Okay, so today I wanted to share something I’ve been working on – being more environmentally responsible. It’s not some huge, overnight transformation, but more like a series of small changes I’ve been making in my daily life.

Starting Small
I started by really just looking at my habits. You know, taking stock of where I was creating the most waste. The biggest culprit? Single-use plastics. Water bottles, grocery bags, coffee cups… they were everywhere.
Making Swaps
So, I started swapping things out. I got myself a reusable water bottle and a nice, sturdy travel mug for coffee. I also invested in a bunch of reusable grocery bags and some smaller ones for produce. Seriously, these things are game-changers. I keep them in my car so I don’t forget them when I go shopping.
- Reusable water bottle – check!
- Travel coffee mug – check!
- Reusable grocery bags – double check!
Tackling Food Waste
Next up was food waste. I used to be terrible about buying too much produce and then letting it go bad. I started to be more mindful. Planning my meals ahead of time, at least a little bit, really helped. I also got better at using leftovers. Leftover chicken? Boom, chicken salad sandwiches. Extra veggies? Stir-fry time!
Recycling Right
Recycling is something I’ve always done, but I realized I wasn’t always doing it right. I took some time to really understand what my local recycling program accepts. Turns out, I was throwing a lot of stuff in the recycling bin that shouldn’t have been there. Now, I’m much more careful about sorting things properly.
The Ongoing Journey
It’s definitely a work in progress. I’m still learning and finding new ways to reduce my footprint. But I feel good about the changes I’ve made so far. It’s not about being perfect, it’s about making a conscious effort, and every little bit helps, right?

It is not that hard and I did it. You can try, too.
