Okay, so I was trying to figure out the dates for Zambian public holidays. It’s not something I usually think about, but I needed them for a project I’m working on. So, I started where everyone starts – a quick search.

First, I just did a broad search, you know, just typing in “Zambian public holidays”. The results were okay, I guess. I got a bunch of websites, some looked more official than others. It was a bit of a mixed bag.
I clicked on a few of the top results. Some of them were just lists, no explanations, just dates. Others had a bit more info, like short descriptions of why each day was a holiday. I started copying and pasting the dates into a simple text file. Just wanted to get them all down in one place, you know?
Digging a Little Deeper
After I had a basic list, I realized some of the dates were different on different websites. That’s not good. I needed to be sure, so I looked for a more “official” source.
I tried searching for something like “Zambian government holidays” or “official Zambia public holidays”. That seemed to give me some better results, websites that looked a bit more, uh, legitimate. Like, government-looking pages, not just random travel blogs.
I cross-referenced the dates I had with the ones on these more official-looking sites. I found a couple of discrepancies, so I went with the dates that appeared most consistently on the government-related pages. Seemed like the safest bet.

- Youth Day– This one was pretty consistent across all the sites.
- Heroes’ Day and Unity Day – These two always fall on the same dates, one after the other, So I just checked them both and double check.
- Farmers’ Day -Make sure to confirm.
- Some of the religious holidays, like Christmas and Easter, were easy because they’re the same everywhere.
Finally, I organized my list by month, just to make it easier to read. And that was it! It took a bit of clicking around, but I ended up with a list of Zambian public holidays that I felt pretty confident about.
