Okay, so I’ve been trying to get better at drawing eyes, and I stumbled upon this “jamie lissow eyes” thing. I’m not a pro artist or anything, just someone who likes to doodle in my spare time. So, here’s how my little experiment went.
First Steps: Finding References
First, I just did what everyone does I typed “jamie lissow eyes” into the image search. I got a bunch of pictures, some were helpful, some were not. I was just looking for something to give me a general idea, you know?
Scribbling and Trying Stuff
I grabbed my sketchbook and a pencil—nothing fancy. Then, I just started sketching. I tried to copy the shapes and shadows I saw in the pictures. My first attempts? They were awful, I gotta be honest. The eyes looked wonky, like something from a cartoon gone wrong.
The Details: Lashes and Highlights
I realized I needed to pay more attention to the little things. Like, how the eyelashes curve, and where the light hits the eye to make it look shiny. I spent some time just practicing drawing eyelashes – it’s harder than it looks! I tried to add some little white spots for highlights. It made a big difference, those little dots.
Practice Makes…Better, at least!
I did a few more sketches, trying to get the hang of it. Some of my attempts still looked weird, some started to resemble real eyes. I kept comparing my doodles to the reference pictures. The more I practiced, the less terrible they became. That is a win, right?
My Observations
- Shadows are super important. They make the eye look round and not just flat.
- Eyelashes aren’t all the same length. It’s natural to mix it up a little.
- The highlight, that little shiny spot, is what makes the eye look alive.
Still Learning
I’m still not perfect at this whole eye-drawing thing. But, this “jamie lissow eyes” exploration has given me a few new things to think about. I think with more practice, I can at least get my drawn eyes to look like they belong on a human face, not an alien.
