So, the other day I was digging around for some old music, and I stumbled upon this guy, Dane Donohue. I’d never heard of him before, but the album cover looked interesting, so I figured, why not?

My dive into Dane Donohue
First thing I did was look him up, obviously. Turns out he’s some American musician, born back in 1948. Apparently, he got into music because of the Beatles – heard them on the radio when he was 15 and sick, classic story, right? The main thing I found was about his 1978 album, also named “Dane Donohue.” That’s the one I was checking out.
I gave the album a listen. To be honest with that ear, it’s the kind of soft rock/pop that was all over the place in the late 70s. It’s got that mellow vibe, you know? Acoustic guitars, some smooth vocals… It is not groundbreaking or anything, but it’s pleasant enough.
I did try find other work from him, I listened a couple of times, trying to get a feel for his style. Honestly found that I can not get a clear answer, maybe because the main thing from him is that self-titled album.
Here’s what I did:
- Looked him up:Just basic info. Born in 1948, American musician, got inspired by the Beatles.
- Listened to the album: “Dane Donohue,” the 1978 one.
- Tried to find more: Couldnt find more noteworthy work, or other albums, not easily anyway.
- Formed an opinion:It is fine, decent music, give it a try, specially if you are fan of 70’s soft rock.
That’s pretty much it. It wasn’t a super deep dive, more like a quick dip. But hey, that’s how you find new (or old, in this case) music sometimes, right? Just gotta try stuff out and see what sticks.
