Family Argentina Holidays: Fun Activities for Everyone

Okay, so I wanted to figure out all the holidays in Argentina for a project I’m working on. It seemed simple enough, but, well, it turned into a bit of a thing. Here’s how it all went down:

First, I opened up my browser. You know, the usual starting point for anything these days. I typed in “Argentina holidays” into the search bar and hit enter.

I got a bunch of websites, some looked official, some looked like travel blogs. It was a bit of a mixed bag, honestly. I started clicking through a few of them, trying to get a feel for what was reliable.

Digging Deeper

I noticed that some sites only listed the major holidays, like Christmas and New Year’s. Others had these massive lists, including regional and even really obscure observances. That’s when I realized I needed to be a bit more specific.

I decided to focus on the national public holidays – the ones where most businesses would be closed. That seemed like the most useful information for my project.

So, I went back the search bar. I refined my search to “Argentina national public holidays 2024” and tried again.

I found an official-looking government site and clicked on that website.

Making My List

I started making a list, copying and pasting the names and dates into a simple document.

  • January 1st: New Year’s Day
  • February 12th and 13th: Carnival
  • March 24th: Day of Remembrance for Truth and Justice
  • March 29th: Maundy Thursday (for some)
  • March 29th: Good Friday
  • April 2nd: Day of the Veterans and Fallen of the Malvinas War
  • May 1st: Labor Day
  • May 25th: May Revolution Day
  • June 17th: Day of the Passing of General Martín Miguel de Güemes
  • June 20th: Day of the Passing of General Manuel Belgrano (Flag Day)
  • July 9th: Independence Day
  • August 17th: Day of the Passing of General José de San Martín
  • October 12:Day of Respect for Cultural Diversity
  • Novermber 20:National Sovereignty Day
  • December 8th: Immaculate Conception Day
  • December 25th: Christmas Day

It took a little while, but I finally got a complete list I felt pretty good about. It wasn’t as straightforward as I initially thought, but hey, that’s how these things go sometimes. At least now I have a solid resource for my project!
