Okay, so the other day I was itching to get out and see something cool, and I remembered someone mentioning the Kalaupapa Lookout. I’d never been, so I figured, why not? Let’s do this!

First things first, I grabbed my phone and did a quick search to see where exactly this place was. Turns out, it’s on Molokai, which I already knew, but I needed the specifics. I found the general area and figured I could just follow the signs once I got closer.

Next up, I packed a little bag. You know, essentials: water, because staying hydrated is key, some snacks, because, well, snacks are always a good idea, and my camera, obviously. Gotta capture those views! I also threw on some comfy shoes, because I figured there’d be at least a little bit of walking involved.

The drive there was pretty chill. I just cranked up the tunes and enjoyed the scenery. Once I got to the area, it was pretty easy to find, just like I thought. There were signs pointing the way, so I just followed those, no problem.

Getting to the Lookout

  • Followed the main road.
  • Looked for the signs – they were easy to spot.
  • Parked the car in the designated area.

When I finally got to the lookout, oh man, the view was breathtaking! Seriously, pictures don’t even do it justice. You’re up so high, looking down at the Kalaupapa Peninsula, and the ocean just stretches out forever. It’s incredible.

I spent a good chunk of time just soaking it all in. I walked around a bit, taking pictures from different angles, and just generally enjoying the peace and quiet. It was one of those moments where you just feel so small, in a good way, you know? Like you’re connected to something bigger.

Snapping Some Photos

I am no professional photographer, but I did my best. I played aroud with it:

  • Tried different angles.
  • Zoomed in and out.
  • Wait for good light… patience!

After a while, I started feeling those hunger pangs, so I found a nice spot, sat down, and enjoyed my snacks while taking in the view one last time. It was the perfect way to end the little adventure.

The drive back was just as easy as the drive there. I felt refreshed and recharged after spending some time in nature. Definitely a good day trip, and I’d recommend it to anyone who’s looking for some amazing views and a little bit of peace and quiet. You won’t regret it!
