Okay, so today I decided to really dive into this whole “eco-conscious transportation” thing. I’ve been feeling kinda guilty about my driving habits lately, and I figured it was time for a change.

Phase 1: The Research Rabbit Hole
First, I spent a good chunk of the morning just Googling stuff. I looked into all sorts of options: electric bikes, regular bikes, public transport schedules, even those electric scooters you see everywhere.
I jotted down some notes about distances, costs, and how much of a pain each option would be. Honestly, it was a bit overwhelming at first!
Phase 2: The Test Runs
Next, I decided to try some things out. No more just reading about it – time for action!
- Day 1: I borrowed my neighbor’s old bike. It was…an experience. Let’s just say I’m not in biking shape. Made it to the grocery store and back, but I was wiped.
- Day 2: I took the bus to work. It was surprisingly okay! A little slower than driving, but I could read my book and not stress about traffic.
- Day 3: I Walked to a nearby store. It’s something I normally don’t do. But the weather is pretty good.
Phase 3: My (Current) Conclusion
So, after a few days of experimenting, here’s where I’m at:
The bus is actually a pretty solid option for my commute. It’s cheaper than gas, and I can chill out during the ride. I’m going to try and stick with that for workdays.

Biking is…aspirational. I need to build up some stamina before I tackle that again. Maybe I’ll start with shorter trips on weekends.
And those electric scooters? They seem fun, but I’m not sure they’re practical for my needs. I’ll keep them in mind for short hops, though. I need to do more research on those.
Overall, I’m feeling pretty good about taking these first steps. It’s not a perfect system yet, but I’m trying to be more mindful of my impact, and that’s what matters, right? I’m going to continue to do some test on other options next week.
