Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this idea of planning a “Haitian Holiday,” and let me tell you, it’s been a journey! I started with pretty much zero knowledge, just a vague idea of beautiful beaches and vibrant culture.

Digging into the Basics
First, I hit Google. Just typing in “Haitian Holidays” and seeing what popped up. I got a bunch of generic travel sites, you know, the usual stuff. But I wanted something more… authentic.
So, I started looking at specific regions. I figured that narrowing it down would help. I saw mentions of Jacmel, Cap-Haïtien, and Port-au-Prince. Each seemed to have a totally different vibe.
Getting Specific
- Jacmel: Seemed like the artsy, laid-back place. I found some pictures of colorful buildings and carnival masks. Definitely my kind of scene.
- Cap-Haïtien: This one looked more historical, with the Citadelle Laferrière and Sans-Souci Palace. I’m a bit of a history buff, so that grabbed my attention.
- Port-au-Prince: The capital… obviously a lot going on there. I was a little intimidated, to be honest. Seemed like it might be a bit overwhelming for a first-timer.
Diving Deeper
After I got a handle on the different areas, I started looking for blogs and personal accounts, not just the big travel companies. I wanted to hear from people who had actually been there, you know?
I also try to find some information on festivals and holidays, those are always fun, and a great chance to see what a place is like.
Putting it Together
Right now, I’m leaning towards a trip that combines Jacmel and Cap-Haïtien. A little bit of art, a little bit of history, and hopefully a lot of beautiful beaches! I’m still in the early stages of planning, figuring out flights and accommodation, and such things. It’s a work in progress, but I’m already excited!
