Okay, so today I decided to mess around with making some, uh, “fart comics.” Yeah, you read that right. I’ve always found those silly sound effects hilarious, and I thought, why not try to draw some comics about it? Let’s see if I can turn these noises into something visually funny.

Getting Started
First, I grabbed my sketchbook and a pencil. I didn’t really have a plan, just started doodling. I find that when I have something to write with, I can start to draw. I sketched out a few basic stick figures, thinking about different scenarios where, well, you know… someone might let one rip.
- Tried drawing a guy in a crowded elevator. Classic, right?
- Then I sketched a couple on a romantic date, with a big, embarrassing “POOT” bubble.
- I even drew a dog lifting its leg, but instead of, um, the usual, it was a musical note shaped like a fart cloud.
Inking and Adding Detail
After I had a few rough sketches, I picked my favorite ones and went over them with a pen. I wanted the lines to be bold and cartoony. It takes some time to make sure the drawings look * the ink was dry, I erased the pencil lines. That’s always a satisfying step – makes everything look cleaner.
Next, I started adding some details. I gave the characters exaggerated expressions – wide eyes, blushing cheeks, you name it. For the “sound effects,” I experimented with different lettering styles. Some were big and jagged, others were more bubbly and, uh, “airy.”
The “Punchline”
The trickiest part was figuring out how to make the actual fart the “punchline” of the comic. It’s not just about drawing a cloud; it’s about the reaction of the other characters, the situation, the whole setup. I played around with different speech bubbles, thought bubbles, and even little “smell lines” to really sell the joke.
Final Touches
Once I was happy with the drawings, I scanned them into my computer. I used a simple image editing program to clean up any smudges and adjust the contrast. I even added some color to a few of them, just to see how they looked. Mostly, I went with shades of green and brown for the, ahem, “clouds.”

In the end, I had a handful of fart comics that I thought were pretty funny. They’re definitely not high art, but they made me laugh, and that’s all that matters. Might share them online later, might not. We’ll see if the world is ready for my “masterpieces.”
