Okay, so the other day I was messing around in the kitchen, trying to come up with something different. I had a bunch of apples, and I was thinking, “What can I do with these besides the usual pie or crumble?” Then it hit me – let’s try something with an Asian twist!

Getting Started
First, I grabbed about four apples. I think I used Fujis, but honestly, any kind that’s good for baking will work. I peeled them, cored them, and sliced them up – not too thin, not too thick, just regular slices.
The Fun Part
Next, I made the “Asian” part of this whole thing. In a bowl, I mixed together some soy sauce – maybe a couple of tablespoons? – with a spoonful of honey. I also added a dash of rice vinegar for a little tang, and a pinch of ginger powder because, well, why not? It’s all about experimenting, right?
I tossed the apple slices in this mixture, making sure they were all nicely coated. You could probably add some sesame seeds here if you’re feeling fancy, but I didn’t have any on hand.
Baking Time
I spread the apple slices out on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper (makes cleanup so much easier). Then I popped them into a preheated oven – I think it was around 350 degrees Fahrenheit. I baked them for about 20 minutes, maybe a bit longer, until they were soft and starting to caramelize a little.
- Parchment paper can help a lot.
The Result
Took the baked apples out and try. They were sweet, savory, and a little bit tangy – definitely different from your average baked apples! I think they’d be great with some vanilla ice cream, or maybe even as a topping for pork chops or something. It’s a pretty simple recipe, but it’s a fun way to mix things up.

Actually simple right? But you need to make sure you keep looking the apples to avoid over-baked.
