- Visa fee itself was around 75 bucks
- Translation guy robbed me for 120
- Express mailing fees another 60
- Plus I had to show over 5,000 in my bank account
All this before even buying plane tickets. My wallet cried real tears.
The Waiting Game
Submitted everything on March 2nd. Got silence for weeks. Started pestering the embassy with emails – they replied once with “processing time 8-12 weeks”. Meanwhile my job start date was creeping closer. Finally got the passport back on June 11th. That’s 14 weeks of checking my mailbox like a paranoid squirrel.
Biggest lesson? Start earlier than you think. Triple-check document requirements. And prepare for random unexpected costs popping up like annoying mushrooms. Still cheaper than hiring some visa agency though – those guys wanted 500 just to fill forms for me. Nope.
