Getting Started
Okay so I decided to skip the travel agency fees and apply for my Morocco tourist visa myself. Felt way cheaper, you know? Figured I could figure it out.
First Step: Finding What I Needed
I went straight to the official Morocco visa website. Honestly, the design wasn’t the easiest to navigate. Took me a while to find the “Tourist Visa” section. Tip: Just keep clicking through the “Visas” or “Consular Services” menus until you see “Tourist.” I made sure I was looking at the site specific to the country I’m applying from.
Downloaded the application form right away. It looked long, but manageable.
Gathering the Paperwork
This part felt like a scavenger hunt. Needed a bunch of stuff:
- A passport valid for way longer than my trip. They needed blank pages too, which I had.

- Proof of my job and salary slips. Had my HR write a letter.
- Travel insurance covering Morocco.
Took a few days just to get all this together, especially the HR letter. Made two copies of absolutely everything!
Filling Out the Damn Form
Sat down with a coffee and started filling it in. Had my passport next to me the whole time to copy details exactly. Used black pen, all caps like it said. Double, triple-checked every date and name spelling. Honestly, felt a bit stressful worrying about typos messing things up.
Booking the Appointment
Went back online to schedule an appointment at the Morocco embassy/consulate near me. Oh boy, slots were limited! Kept checking back for a few days until a decent time popped up. Snatched it quickly.
Submission Day – Nerves!
Woke up early, dressed kind of smart. Had my whole file folder organized. Got to the embassy/consulate way too early, nerves kicked in. Waited my turn, tried to stay calm. Handed everything over to the officer. They looked through it meticulously, asked a couple of basic questions about my trip plans (where going, for how long). Didn’t ask for anything extra, thank goodness. Paid the visa fee then and there – check accepted payment methods beforehand! Got a receipt and was told processing takes X weeks.
The Waiting Game
This part sucked. Just waited and hoped I hadn’t messed anything up. Kept checking my email and the application tracking page like every other day, even though I knew it took time.
Visa In Hand!
Got an email saying my passport was ready for collection. Went back to the embassy/consulate (sometimes they mail it). Felt amazing seeing that visa sticker inside my passport! Total relief and excitement.
Final Thoughts
It took effort and some organization, but doing it myself saved me a decent chunk of cash compared to agencies. Felt good figuring it out. Key things: Read the requirements super carefully on the official site for your specific location, start collecting docs early, triple-check everything on the form, and be prepared to wait patiently after you submit. Totally doable if you take your time!
