Why I Tried Those Photo Tips
Okay so last Tuesday I was scrolling through my phone gallery feeling kinda frustrated. All my vacation pics looked flat and boring – like postcards everyone else already has. My friend Dave said “bro just use filters” but nah, filters make stuff look fake. Then I remembered this “go extra mile” photo method from some photography forum. Decided to test it myself.

What I Actually Did
Grabbed my cheap DSLR that’s been collecting dust since 2020. Went to this ugly parking lot behind Walmart ’cause I wanted to prove you can make crap spots look cool. Seriously, there was broken shopping carts and oil stains everywhere.
- Tip #1 experiment: Instead of standing like normal, I belly-crawled on the concrete to shoot upwards at a rusty fence. Got dirt on my shirt but WHO CARES.
- Tip #2 madness: Stalked a random plastic bag blowing in the wind for 10 minutes waiting for it to get stuck on barbed wire. Looked insane but got the shot.
- Tip #3 sacrifice: Dangled halfway outta my car window at sunset trying to catch traffic light trails. Almost dropped my lens cap into storm drain.
How It Turned Out
Checked the pics after editing on free phone apps. Jaw dropped. That stupid plastic bag looked like some deep modern art. The fence shot had shadows making dragon shapes. Parking lot puddles reflected neon signs like mirror cities. Showed my wife and she refused to believe it was Walmart. Best part? Took under 2 hours total.
Mistakes I Nearly Made
Almost quit after first 15 mins ’cause my knees hurt from crawling. Also almost deleted the traffic light pics ’cause they looked blurry at first glance. Pro tip: coffee helps when you’re lying on cold concrete wondering why you do this to yourself.
Would I Do This Again?
Hell yes. Ordered knee pads next day. Realized boring photos happen when you shoot like lazy robot. That grimy parking lot’s now my favorite photography spot. Gonna try shooting inside my messy garage tomorrow – fight me.
