Alright, so today I wanted to dive into something that’s been on my mind for a while: the religion of the New Hampshire colony. First, I started by hitting up the usual spots – you know, the big search engines. I typed in “New Hampshire colony religion” and skimmed through a bunch of articles. It was a bit overwhelming at first, I’m not gonna lie. There’s a ton of information out there, and it’s not always easy to tell what’s legit and what’s not.
After a while, I decided to narrow my focus a bit. I figured it would be best to stick to sources that seemed pretty reliable, like websites of historical societies and academic institutions. I also started looking for books on the subject, but I didn’t want anything too heavy or dense. I wanted something that was informative but also, you know, readable.
I found a few interesting things right off the bat. It seems like the New Hampshire colony was initially founded by folks who were mostly Puritans, but they weren’t quite as strict as the Puritans in Massachusetts. I guess you could say they were a bit more chill. They still valued their religious beliefs, of course, but they weren’t as focused on enforcing them on everyone else.

I also want to see if I can find any personal accounts or diaries from people who lived there at the time. That would be super cool, right? To get a firsthand perspective on what it was like to live in the New Hampshire colony and how religion played a role in their lives.
