Alright, so we’re talking December 17th astrology today. It’s funny, you know, how people grab onto specific dates, looking for some kind of cosmic nod. Makes me chuckle sometimes. It really takes me back to this one gig I had, years ago, a real pressure cooker of a place.
That December Madness
We were deep in the weeds on this massive project. I mean, everyone was stretched thin. The deadline was looming, naturally, right before the holidays. Classic. And wouldn’t you know it, someone, I think it was Brenda from marketing, got it into her head that December 17th was going to be some kind of ‘alignment day’. Not sure where she picked that up, probably some website or one of those fancy calendars that cost a fortune.
So, I started noticing weird stuff. People were actually talking about it. Whispering in the break room. “Oh, Mercury is doing something funky on the 17th,” or “I read we should avoid making big decisions.” Seriously? We had a multi-million dollar project hanging in the balance, and folks were worried about planets playing bumper cars.
I remember our team lead, poor guy, trying to navigate this. He was already stressed, and now he had half the team acting like they needed to consult a crystal ball before sending an email. I tried to just keep my head down, you know? Focus on the actual work. I went through my tasks, checked my code, coordinated with the sensible folks. But the chatter was always there.
- Dave started wearing this weird amulet. Said it was for ‘protection’.
- Sarah kept re-scheduling meetings because the ‘vibes’ weren’t right for the 17th.
- Even old Jenkins in accounting mentioned something about ‘inauspicious numbers’ that week.
It was a circus. I sat in one planning meeting, and I swear, Brenda actually pulled out a little chart. A chart! For a software deployment! I just looked at my coffee cup, man. What else could I do?
The Big Day Arrives…Or Doesn’t
So, December 17th finally rolled around. And you know what happened? Absolutely nothing out of the ordinary. We had the usual minor hiccups. One server decided to be a bit grumpy in the morning, but we got it sorted. The deployment we were all sweating bullets over? It went… okay. Not perfect, not a disaster, just… work. The same kind of work we’d been doing all along.
The funny thing was, for a day or two after, some of them were trying to spin it. “See! The amulet worked!” or “It’s because we were cautious!” I just shook my head. We succeeded because a bunch of us ignored the hocus-pocus and just did our jobs. We prepared, we tested, we communicated (when people weren’t talking about star signs).
So yeah, December 17th astrology. It just reminds me that at the end of the day, you make your own luck, or your own mess. No amount of star-gazing is going to change the hard work you put in, or the hard work you didn’t. That’s my two cents, anyway. I just got on with things, and usually, that’s the best approach I’ve found.
